Project Life: January

I'm starting a new album for 2014 after using the same one for 2012 and 2013, so I'm pretty excited about having spreads to put in the new album! Here are some spreads for January!

This year, I'll be doing spreads monthly as opposed to weekly because since I've started working, I've found it hard to keep up with the weekly system. My job is shift work based, and I often work on weekends, so a monthly system would be much easier than a weekly one.

This is one of the spreads from my annual Christmas party with my best friends. Yep, we had our Christmas party on the 3rd of Jan because of schedule clashes, but I'm so glad we had one anyway, right before one of my friends flew off to Hong Kong!

This PL card is from the midnight kit. The pattern didn't suit the spread, and I wanted a more Christmas-y feel to the spread, so I used some Studio Calico Magical papers and covered the patterned bits. I might do this again because I really like the effect and it gives me an opportunity to use my patterned papers! :)

I traded some Jade Edition cards with my friend's Blush edition (so glad to have friends who do PL) and I really love the cards in the Blush kit! They're really fun and I love the swirly font on the cards :)

I also don't normally slant my photos, but really liked how the slanted photos look in this spread :)

Thanks for dropping by!

Project Life: November and December

It's terrible that I haven't posted in a few months, and not even a New Year post, but before January ends I want to say thank you to everyone who's dropped by my blog in the past year.

These photos were from the dance showcase I did last year! So glad my friend Amanda captured some really funny photos of us warming up in the walkway of a shopping mall (my dance school is located in a shopping mall), as well as photos of us dancing.

Really love the Kelly Purkey white stickers which I use on almost every spread, as well as her stamps.

Below are some details

I attended a friend's party where they had a Photo Booth, and got to bring home some of the photos. So glad for Project Life because it allowed me to put this photos in an organized space along with journalling. Before PL these photos would've sat in a cupboard and been forgotten.

I also like how using the A Beautiful Mess app to add text and doodles to my photos is a sort of embellishing in itself <3

Another spread from December - Christmas in the wards and in Dance Arts! :)

The photos in this spread are my December favourites! I embellished it minimally, true to my style, and used some Kal Barteski stamps and Kelly Purkey letter stickers.

This is the final page of my 2012/2013 album. So in love with the gold star paper from Cosmo Cricket and the card that says everything here is wonderful, because in retrospect, everything that happened, whether sparkly or dull, was wonderful.

Project Life: July till October

It's terrible that I haven't posted in a few months, and not even a New Year post, but before January ends I want to say thank you to everyone who's dropped by my blog in the past year.

I also wanted to share some spreads from my 2013 Project Life. These are some of my favourites from July to October.

I attempted to start getting more fruit into my diet by drinking smoothies, so I used my first ever salary to buy myself a blender :) The "you are special" note was from the nurses day celebration.

Teachers' Day always feels like Christmas came early because I have the wonderful opportunity to assist in some classes. I scrapped the wrapping paper from my presents as well as a card from my student. We also took some photos that day and those are one of my favourite photos from 2013 <3 The photos, including the candid photo, were taken by Kako who's 11. Love how she managed to capture such precious moments!

This spread documents my birthday celebration by two amazing friends who planned an entire home cooked dinner for me, complete with a printed menu.

I made my first hand-bound book in October! Also very much in love with Kal Barteski's "amazing" stamp from the Studio Calico October Project Life kit.

Next week, I'll be sharing some spreads from November and December so do drop by again! :)

Project Life l Commencement

I had to photograph these spreads twice because the first lot turned out to be extremely blurry. Findingnana's tutorial helped a great deal the second time round! Love how the scrapbooking community is always so generous with helpful tips and solutions ^_^

I tried embossing on a photo (top left) for the first time and kind-of melted the photo when I brought the heat gun too close :x I figured it would flatten when kept in the album though, and I liked the embossed image, so I didn't reprint it :) Really like the champange stamp I got from Typo! (Used it in the top left and bottom right photo.)

The white background of the midnight kit really allowed my photos to stand out - exactly what Liz Tamanaha had in mind :)

In this photo I pretended to give C an injection, hence her sad and scared expression. As such I decorate the photo with nurse-themed stickers like the syringe and pills. Had tons of fun doing this one :)

Hope you enjoyed looking through my spreads, thanks for visiting my blog! :)

Project Life l Universal Studios in June

I've given up trying to sort my PL by weeks, since some weeks have more photos than others, and have decided to sort them by month. It's is a lot easier because it doesn't involve countless references to calendars and dates in which photos were taken. When I look at a photo, I will always remember which month I took it, but never which week, so this approach makes sense :)

Below are my spreads documenting my trip to Universal Studios Singapore back in June to celebrate my best friend's birthday!

I mixed the Jade Core Kit with enamel dots and Amy Tan's vellum embellishments. Really liked how they made the spreads super colourful.

Thanks for visiting my blog, and hope you enjoyed looking through my spreads :)

Bookbinding Class!

Last month I attended a bookbinding class by Rachel of Scrappinlove. I thought it would be nice to add bookbinding to my list of gifts I can make by hand.

I was initially quite confused with the stitching and followed her instructions closely, but once I got into the swing of it I started to have a lot of fun! Of course there's lots of room for improvement, but I was very happy with my first attempt :)

Rachel's a really patient teacher and he feedback from other students was very positive as well. I'm eagerly awaiting her next bookbinding class!

This time round I followed her cover design closely, but I'm looking forward to designing my own really soon! If you're interested in her classes, you can visit her website here. Thanks for dropping by!
